Turismo de Canarias joins a panel to select young marketing and communications talent

Our Promotions Director, Elena Gonzalez Vázquez de Parga, joined a panel of experts yesterday in Madrid for the 7th edition of the Young Marketers competition, a contest aimed at young marketing and communications talent in Spain and set up and sponsored by the Omnicom agencies (DDB, Grupo BBDO&Proximity, Ketchum, OMD, PHD, Porter Novelli and TRO). The panel was formed of marketing directors from Spain’s leading companies and the co-sponsoring Omnicom agencies.

The aim of this competition is to select the two young professionals to represent Spain in the renowned Young Lions Marketers 2017 international competition, which will be held from 17 to 24 June as part of the Cannes Lions Festival, the most prestigious event in communications and creativity. As well as being able to compete in the important Cannes event, the winning couple Virginia Núñez and Isabel Ortiz from the company Shiseido will be able to attend seminars, debates, talks, screenings and exhibitions by the leading international experts from the marketing and communications industry.

The participants vying for the Spanish competition had until 15 April to apply, and had to fulfil a series of prerequisites such as be under 30 years old and belong to a Marketing and Communications team of an advertising company. Once the registration period had closed, the young entrants had 48 hours to carry out the work, under the same conditions set by the international Cannes festival. On this occasion, they had to prepare a briefing linked to a social cause.
