Canary Islands attends Routes World as one of world’s top five destinations in air route development

We’re attending the latest edition of the world’s leading international forum of the commercial airline industry, Routes World, where we’ve been nominated by airlines for the Routes prize for the world’s best route development team. The other nominees are Cape Town Air Access (South Africa), Visit Malta and two heavyweight countries, represented by Tourism Australia and JNTO (Japan National Tourism Organization).

The Canary Islands are currently one of the world’s best connected tourism destinations. The region has 731 routes operated by 53 airlines with connections to 146 airports, and 9.4 million seats scheduled for the winter season, up 30.7% from 2019.

At the 27th World Route Development Forum, held in Las Vegas (Nevada) from 16 to 18 October, we’ll meet with senior representatives from the world’s leading airlines to present convincing reasons for their decisions on starting up new routes or improving existing connections, and continuing the market diversification needed to boost our destination competitiveness. The airlines we’ll be talking to include American Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada, Air Transat, Westjet, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa Group, Easyjet, Lot Polish, Vueling, Wizz Air, TAP, Jetblue, Edelweiss, Condor and Brussels Airlines.

At Routes World Forum, held in Las Vegas, the Canary Islands Tourism team will meet with senior representatives from the world’s leading airlines.

At the world conference, where airlines, airports and destinations work together to assess connectivity and develop new routes and frequencies, we’ll have the opportunity to obtain exclusive, first-hand industry insight and take part in high-level networking.
