The tourist marketing strategy of the Canary Islands brand, developed by Promotur Turismo de Canarias, has picked up yet another international award, on this occasion for its long term efficiency. The bronze prize was awarded to them last night in Brussels, at the Euro Effie gala, by the European associations of communication agencies. These Euro Effie awards recognise strategies and publicity promotions carried out by companies from all different backgrounds. This year, only 17 brands from all of Europe won awards.

Last year, the Canary Islands brand came away with the award for most innovative strategy in Spain, awarded by the Spanish Advertisers’ Association, while on this occasion, the European prize is in recognition of the work put in by Turismo de Canarias in one of their top priorities: the efficiency of long term promotional investment.

Over 50 awards

In recent times, the Canary Islands tourist brand, which now harbours over 50 different awards, has been a regular at many competitions focusing on creativity and innovation in the world of marketing and communication. All these awards are shared with the Canarian tourism sector as a whole, as it fills the islanders with pride to see their Islas Canarias brand rubbing shoulders with leading European brands from all areas of the business world, not just in tourism.

The Euro Effie awards are organized by the European Associations of Communication Agencies (EACA in Spanish), in association with Euronews and with the backing of Google, the European Publishers’ Board, WARC, Adforum.com, Procter & Gamble, Nielsen, Creativebrief and Viva Xpress Logistic. At this year’s event, out of all the Spanish finalists, only the Islas Canarias brand won an award, for their ongoing marketing and communication campaign, which has been 85% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
